The Callisto Protocol is a new survival horror game for PS5, PS4 and Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While it might be a new IP, the game from Striking Distance Studios is pretty heavily inspired by Dead Space. Our The Callisto Protocol walkthrough, which documents all collectibles, will guide you through all of the chapters in the title, sharing strategies for combat encounters and letting you know what to do next. In our The Callisto Protocol PS5 review, we awarded the game a 7/10 and called it a "consistently good game".

As part of our The Callisto Protocol guide, we'll also reveal a The Callisto Protocol Trophy guide and a selection of tips and tricks for beginners. While this guide is based on the PS5, PS4 versions, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC players shall find their experiences to be virtually the same as PlayStation users and, therefore, can use this guide for help too.

The Callisto Protocol Guide: Tips and Tricks for Beginners

In the final section of our The Callisto Protocol guide, we're going to provide some universal tips and tricks for beginners. These will make sure you're fully prepared for Jacob Lee's attempted escape of Black Iron Prison and dealing with its inhabitants. While the game does have difficulty settings, these tips will help you get the most out of it.

Stomp on Enemy Corpses

The Callisto Protocol brings back the classic stomp ability from Dead Space. Whenever you kill an enemy, always remember to stomp on them. They always drop an item including ammo, health, and Callisto Credits. The latter allows you to purchase upgrades for your weapons, so the more of them you have the better. Then, with more bullets and health, you have a much better chance of surviving.

Don't Just Aim for the Head

Enemies in The Callisto Protocol don't die when you take their head off; they keep going. Instead, focus on knocking their limbs off, particularly their legs, to immobilize them. This makes them much easier to kill. Removing the head will always help, but it's not going to immediately down an enemy like it would if they were human.

The GRP Gives You Easy Kills

The GRP allows you to pick up enemies and throw them wherever you want. Since bullets are somewhat limited, make it the first means of attack especially if there's active machinery or spikes on the wall nearby. Grab an enemy and throw it at them and it'll be killed immediately, saving you ammo for other foes.

Upgrade the Stun Baton

The Stun Baton is just as important as the weapons you accrue for combat, so don't forget about it once you get a few guns. Some perks allow you to perform a sweep attack after a block, while others boost your damage. Particularly during one on one engagements, you should probably be opting for the Stun Baton; making sure it's at its best is vital.

Buy Ammo from Reforge Stations

Reforge stations aren't just for upgrading weapons. If you cycle between the options, you can buy ammo for all your guns for incredibly cheap. Since you don't find a lot of bullets out in the open, we recommend stocking up with any spare Callisto Credits you have left over after buying upgrades.

That concludes our The Callisto Protocol guide. We hope you found this resource useful! If you have any further tips or hints to share, feel free to post them in the comments below.
